Welcome to the 2021 edition of the Latin American Arts & Culture Festival.
We are very excited to share with you that this year the Latin American Arts & Culture Festival has been awarded as an Alberta Cultural Days Celebration Site, so we will be celebrating all the month of September with diverse activities to showcase different artistic and cultural expressions that are representative of our Mexican culture, Latin American heritage, and Spanish Language. In addition, during all the month of October we will be celebrating the Latin American Heritage Month, so the festival will run from September 1st. to October 31, 2021.
The festival features a Visual Arts Exhibition, physical and online, with the participation of Latin American artists that will expose their artwork including paintings and sculptures in the hallways of cSpace King Edward. The exhibition will showcase the artistic work and professional profiles of the participants. We want to encourage the public to support the artistic community by considering buying a piece of art of these talented artists.
This year, we are hosting for the first time Country Cultural Displays featuring eight Latin American countries including Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela. With the collaboration of diverse folklore and cultural community groups, the festival will showcase each country’s history, gastronomy, and diverse cultural aspects.
The program will include a large array of diverse artistic expressions including theatre, conversations, musical performances, activities for children, movie night, gastronomy demonstrations, and more. Some of the activities will take place in person at cSpace King Edward, in Marda Loop, Calgary, that is home to Casa Mexico. Some other, will happen in our virtual platform. In this way, more people can choose to attend in person or to join online from any part of the world. You are welcome to join us in person or online.
We would like to thank all our sponsors and community partners that are supporting the Latin American Arts & Culture Festival 2021. Our goal is to present to all Canadians and to the world, the diverse cultural and artistic expressions developed by the Latin American community.
Please stay tune for more updates. Visit www.casamexico.ca and our social media platforms for the full calendar of activities happening during September and October.
