WORKSHOP(S) SUMMARY
We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for Calgary's Latin music community to learn more about music production and audio engineering from a true expert - Juan Carlos (JC) Hernandez, who will be coming to Alberta to host interactive hands-on workshops exclusively in Calgary, and delivered in Spanish. There are two components available.
PRODUCTION AND RECORDING
- Held at the world renown recording studios at Studio Bell and National Music Centre, with special access to its historic museum-quality recording rooms and equipment.
- Small group format where JC will cover what participants want to learn - production techniques in contemporary popular and Latin music styles, understanding both analog and digital tools, audio engineering, recording and mixing tips, and how to apply these concepts in more modest home studio settings.
- Get your specific questions answered and receive feedback and advice.
LIVE SOUND
- Held at AROMA CAFE BAR AT 33, JC will be demonstrating on the venue's audio/visual systems how to successfully set up and run a great-sounding live event.
- Small group format that will cover key topics - stage setup, monitoring, microphone, sound checks, techniques for shaping and managing sound, common challenges and troubleshooting.
-An opportunity to learn in a real time hands-on environment in a popular venue in Calgary.

Biography:
Juan Carlos Hernandez is a Mexican Producer and Mix Engineer based in Durango, Mexico. Born in Gomez Palacio, Durango, he has worked as a producer and/or mix engineer in projects such as La Voz Mexico, La Vecindad de El Chavo dPōrt (El Chavo del Ocho) as well as productions with artists such as Kike Jimenez and Lake Kyle as well as collaborating with companies such as Line 6 of Yamaha Guitar Group. He was inspired by his father to learn about music and was inspired from an early age to learn different rhythms and instruments. His commitment to the artist and music has led him to join the Exa FM 101.3 radio network as producer of the ''Da' JAAUX Radioshow'', to later attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated from the Master Recording II Program maintaining a 4.0 GPA and obtaining all available certifications. He interned at Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood, California and has been an assistant at the National Association of Music Merchants TEC Awards edition 37 and 38 in Anaheim, California as well as serving as FOH at different churches in Mexico and the US. He is an expert in both contemporary popular music styles (pop, rock, EDM, etc.) as well as traditional Latin and regional styles particularly from his home country of Mexico.
