La Calavera de Frida was born from the need to showcase the Latin music to the Canadian people as well as to keep our roots alive. The band members come from different Latin countries such as Mexico, Nicaragua and El Salvador. This gives us the chance play music from all this different countries and more!

About La Calavera de Frida
La Calavera de Frida (Frida’s Candy Skull) has been playing since 2017, when Alex Macias and Sergio Carrera decided to start a band with a lot of Latin flavour. Playing Latin folk and traditional songs and fusing them with different rhythms, was only the starting point. They put together a group of musicians with different musical backgrounds who helped enrich the sound of the music they were playing: every flavor was welcomed into the mix. The Band has been invited to play at different festivals like Expo Latino in 2017 and 2018 and Mexifest 2018; Main act at Day of the Dead Celebration, Arts Commons 2017; Opening Ceremony of “Frida Khalo: Her Pictures” exhibition at Glenbow Museum, 2018; Main act at Mexico Independence Day Celebration, 2018.
Despite having members change along the years, the band consolidated with the inclusion of vocalist Mera Reyes and the three of them, along great musicians in the band, have made the spirit of La Calavera de Frida remain intact and growing, gaining more followers.

About Elemento
In April 2015 Gustavo Archundia (former drummer for SOLIDO Latín Rock Band) came up with the idea of putting a second band together that made a difference in the music industry in Calgary. He wanted to create something that made people travel in time to the 80's and 90's.
Playing covers from the greatest Latin Pop/Rock bands like Timbiriche, Flans, Magneto, Luis Miguel, Hombres G, Miguel Mateos, La Union, Calo, etc. ELEMENTO will make you dance and remember those good all days with an excellent show!
